ACDD Board MemberBen & Debbie Lieberman

Ben attended The University of Maryland where he earned a BS in Journalism. He has twenty-five years experience in institutional sales and trading for some of the most venerable banks in the world and is the author of two best selling novels. Ben serves on various boards. Most recently he was asked to serve on Westchester Medical Center’s Foundation Board.

Debbie graduated from Emory University with a BBA in Finance. She worked at Pfizer Pharmaceutical and as a government bond trader for Mabon Nugent, before retiring to become a full time mom and entrepreneur. He currently works in fixed income trading in the financial industry. Ben is a published author of fiction and is working on his second novel.

Debbie and Ben Lieberman founded the Evan's Team Foundation after friends, family and neighbors suggested various events and gatherings that will not only help the community but also to keep Evan's smile in our hearts. The foundation organized fun and creative events that incorporated the community. The proceeds were used to design and implement a new family area at Westchester Medical Centers Trauma ICU.

The foundation also developed an advocacy group: Distracted Operators Risk Casualties. DORCs “We want to keep the DORCs off the Road.”

ACDD Board MemberDeborah Becker

Deborah is an Agent with New York Life in White Plains. She joined New York Life after a career as a securities attorney and compliance officer in the financial services industry, including over nineteen years as in-house counsel for insurance companies. Deborah holds CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) and ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) designations from The American College of Financial Services.

ACDD Board MemberJacy Good

Jacy Good is a nationally known and awarded advocate and public speaker for cell-free roads. In May of 2008 both of her parents were killed and Jacy was herself severely injured on the way home from her graduation ceremony from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. The devastating wreck was caused by a driver distracted by a cell phone conversation. Good now travels the country sharing her story at high schools, colleges, conferences, and corporate events in an effort to prevent such horrors from touching others lives. Ms. Good has been a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show, of Maria Shriver at the 2010 Women's Conference, and of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon at his “Call to End the Global Epidemic of Distracted Driving.” Jacy’s been featured as a "Hero Among Us" in People Magazine and in a January 2015 piece on CNN’s The Human Factor among many dozens of other print and television profiles. Together with her husband, Steve Johnson, she has crisscrossed the country giving their Hang Up And Drive presentation to over 700 audiences since 2011.

ACDD Board MemberWilliam Schur

Mr. Schur is a graduate of George Washington University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1987. He became a licensed Real Estate Salesperson immediately thereafter and subsequently became a Broker in 1992. He has been a Realtor since 1992.

He became involved in the Bronx-Manhattan North Association of Realtors activities when he became a member of the Board of Governors in 1993. In 2000, he was installed as the Vice president of the Owner-Management Division where he organized seminars and networking events. In 2001, he became President-Elect of the Association where he supported the Board President in his duties. In 2003, he was installed as President of the Association to serve a two year term. As a past President, he continues to serve on numerous committees and be supportive of the Board’s causes in many ways including teaching in the Board’s Educational Institute.

In 2002, Mr. Schur was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Rent Stabilization Association of New York (RSA) which is the largest trade association in New York City representing 25,000 property owners/agents responsible for approximately one million units of housing where he continues to serve as an active Director.

Since 1996, Mr. Schur has served on the Board of Directors of the Bronx Realty Advisory Board (BRAB) , a non-profit organization serving the interests of owner-mangers in the Bronx. In October 2008, he was installed as President of the BRAB, replacing long time president Mike Laub. In 2004, Mr. Schur was appointed by Governor George Pataki to serve as the housing industry representative on the New York State Advisory Council on Lead Poisoning Prevention whose mission is to advise the New York State Department of Health on ways to number of cases of lead poisoning in New York State, an appointment he held until 2009. In 2012, Mr. Schur was appointed to serve as one of four Trustees for the SEIU Local 32 BJ North Pension, Health and Legal Funds.

Mr. Schur has been involved in various community endeavors in the borough of the Bronx and his firm works hard to be supportive of affordable housing and re-investment in the community. He has extensive experience in the rehabilitation and construction of both residential and commercial properties and very knowledgeable in all areas of construction.

Mr. Schur is married with 3 children, ages 23, 20 & 17. He is active in his community and volunteers his time to town sports programs.

ACDD Board MemberVijay B. Dixit

Vijay B. Dixit is an Operations Management, Lean/Six Sigma and Innovation expert with multiple industry experience gained at UnitedHealth Group, Prime Therapeutics, Express- Scripts, Seagate Technology, DB Riley and ABB Combustion Engineering. In his current role as the Managing Partner at Atulyaa LLC, Vijay consults in the area of business process design, management and re-engineering.

Vijay is the Chairman of Shreya R. Dixit Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)-3 non-profit cofounded with his wife Rekha after losing their daughter Shreya to a distracted driver in 2007. The foundation’s mission is to change the driving culture at the grass roots level. Design and execution of distraction-free driving awareness/education programs are among the foundation’s major initiatives. Vijay pioneered the development of the World’s First Adaptive Massive Open Online Course (aMOOC™) for combating distracted driving. Aptly named, the Distraction-free Driver, this e-Trainer is available in 65 languages.

In April 2016, Vijay published ‘One Split Second’, a highly researched book about the epidemic of distracted driving-how it kills and how we can fix it. In her foreword to the book, US Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota writes: “This book is a call to action, written with heart”.

Carly is a high school student who has been an invaluable resource for promoting our anti-distraction message to the newest drivers on the road. She has been instrumental in our research, lobbying politicians and in fund raising for the Alliance.

ACDD Board MemberJay Shapiro

Jay Shapiro has more than 30 years experience as a litigator. A prosecutor for two decades who focused on white collar crimes, Jay now represents clients in complex civil litigation and investigations, including corporate internal investigations, and criminal and regulatory enforcement. He also represents insurance companies in their affirmative efforts to combat insurance fraud.

He began his legal career in the Bronx County District Attorney's Office as a prosecutor for eight years and later spent 12 years with the King's County District Attorney's Office, becoming the Deputy District Attorney in charge of the Rackets Division, before going into private practice.

As a prosecutor, Jay Shapiro was one of the first participants in the federal Electronic Crimes Task Force, which launched some of the earliest investigations into cybercrimes. He now advises clients on the investigation of data breaches, computer trespass and best policies concerning employee utilization of personal electronic devices for business purposes.
